autumn

Michael Sean Oliver 1943-2003

autumn
leafleafleafleafleaf

I held his hand , I stroked his face
And all too soon an empty place
Deep within my heart I hold
Those loving memories to unfold

If only time was on our side
The anguished pain I tried to hide
So many words were left unsaid
As I sat helpless at your bed.

We knew there would be times apart
But deep down now , inside my heart
We don't need words to seal our bond
Our love goes deeper and beyond

Farewell my love, we'll meet again
I know not where , I know not when
I hear your voice , I call your name
And feel your presence , just the same.

A beautiful poem kindly sent to me from Sheila in Mirfield shortly after my husband died.
